After the postponement of the SWISSMAN 2020 to June 26, 2021, we received an unbelievable amount of very positive feedback. At this point we would like to thank you very much for your understanding and support in relation to our relatively early decision. This means a lot to us and motivates us to push ahead with planning for the SWISSMAN 2021 with full commitment. We are really looking forward to seeing you again at the SWISSMAN 2021!

We would also like to thank you very much for your query regarding the financial situation of our small event. We are happy to inform you that the deficit resulting from the postponement is painful, but sustainable. At this point, a big thank you to our partners and sponsors for their loyalty and support!

You would like to support the SWISSMAN? We are really glad! You can do this easily by fitting yourself out in our online shop. We have great new items like hoodies, polo shirts and caps in our range. Just take a look!

There are many who are in dire need of support. Among others, people in regions of the world who are dependent on tourism. The current standstill of international tourism hits them incredibly hard, as from one day to the next they no longer have work to be able to support their families. For this reason, from 1. – 31. May 10% of all our shop revenue will go in equal share to two donation projects in Nepal and the Philippines. The two projects are very close to us because members of the SWISSMAN family are supporting families affected on site through their personal contacts.

Nepal

We reported on Facebook that Beat (President SWISSMAN) and Cornelia Stadelmann had fulfilled a long-awaited dream with a trip to Nepal last November. They came home overwhelmed by many impressions and encounters with the warm and humble people there.

Many people in Nepal can only buy food thanks to their daily work. The lockdown, which is strictly enforced by the authorities, exacerbates the situation of poor families. In this precarious situation, Manoj Bakele, the guide of Beat and Cornelia, is helping around 30 families in Kathmandu and the mountain villages and provides them with rice and vegetables. With 30 francs support, a family can be cared for for one month. To support him, we have set up a donation link. Every addition is very gratefully accepted!

Philippinen:

“These are exceptional times, so we come up with an exceptional request.” Ruedi Bolliger (SWISSMAN Finisher and crew member)

Ruedi in the Philippines

In June 2015 we welcomed Ruedi Bolliger on the Kleine Scheidegg at midnight with a lot of cowbells. He then helped us twice as a crew member of the SWISSMAN before emigrating to the Philippines last autumn. Due to the current situation, he has now started a donation project:

Tourism in the Philippines has come to a standstill as a result of the Covid-19 virus. So also in Sipalay City where we are at home. In our district, Barangay 4, 750 families will be without any income until the start of the new season in November/December. The people here live in the simplest accommodations in modest conditions. We have already been able to take a first action, and the gratitude was huge. We distributed the rice in private action with the help of the Barangay Captain. A sack of 50 kg rice costs around 40 Euros. Since usually several generations live in large families under one roof, this will only be enough for a few weeks. That is why we, as well as our local neighbors, are happy about every donation! We thank you very much!

Take-away Rias Kloten
