Due to the current situation regarding the COVID 19 pandemic, the organisation team of the Swissman Xtreme Triathlon is sadly forced to take action and postpone the edition of this year’s SWISSMAN until next year.

Switzerland is in an extraordinary situation. As our health is our top priority, all citizens are urged to stay at home whenever possible in the coming weeks. Despite the drastic measures, it is foreseeable that the situation will continue to deteriorate before it improves. It is uncertain and difficult to predict when Switzerland will be able to return to its accustomed everyday life. This situation affects more or less all of Europe and other parts of the world.

Uncertainty on all levels

Under these circumstances, it is difficult for the organisers to continue planning the event and to obtain the necessary permits from the cantons and communes in time. At present, this is especially true of the preparations in Ticino. Furthermore, it is unclear whether SWISSMAN’s medical crew will be able to be ready for action in June, given the heavy workload they will be under in the coming weeks and months.

The situation of the athletes has also been taken into account in the decision-making process. Many of them are very limited in their preparations, which poses a safety risk for themselves and for the event, which the organisers do not want to accept. In addition, there are currently massive travel restrictions for an unforeseeable period of time, which additionally hinder the athletes in their planning.

Mutual decision with Celtman and Xtri World Tour

In consultation and cooperation with their partner event Celtman Extreme Triathlon in Scotland and the Xtri World Tour, the organisation team has therefore decided, with a heavy heart, not to carry out the SWISSMAN this year. The starting places of all athletes will be postponed until next year June 26th. The organizers and the entire SWISSMAN crew are all the more looking forward to the Swissman 2021.
