Preparations for SWISSMAN 2021 on track

The SWISSMAN crew has officially started planning for SWISSMAN 2021. Of course, the situation with regard to COVID-19 will also bring changes to the SWISSMAN, but the essentials will remain the same: From the palm trees in Ascona, over three Alpine passes to the eternal ice of the Jungfrau region, this is the SWISSMAN , as it is known, and as it will take place next time on 26 June 2021.

The past months have required a lot of spontaneous action and rethinking. This will not change in the near future, but knowing this, the SWISSMAN crew is ready to start planning for the next SWISSMAN. The implementation of a SWISSMAN at the highest level as well as the development of flexible, COVID-compliant implementation concepts that can be adapted to the current situation are at the forefront. What can already be said with certainty today: The eighth SWISSMAN Xtreme Triathlon will also be unique.

Registration open in November for 25 starting places

At the same time as this year’s SWISSMAN was cancelled, it was announced that the starting places from 2020 would be retained for 2021. Many athletes have accepted this offer. Accordingly, an even more limited number of starting places will be raffled this year than in previous years. Only 25 places are available for the draw this year. The registration window will remain open this year from 1 to 11 November.

Family atmosphere, big emotions and familiar faces

For many SWISSMAN finishers it does not remain a one-time participation in the SWISSMAN. Some of them return as athletes, supporters or even crew members, like Thomas Müller from Stallikon: “In 2018, I switched sides with my partner. You just have the feeling that you are always welcome at SWISSMAN, whether as an athlete or as a helper. There is no event that even comes close to triggering such emotions as the SWISSMAN, and that’s where the entire organisation deserves a big thank you.” Having already participated twice as an athlete, SWISSMAN 2018 was the first time he was part of the crew.

In view of this year’s cancellation of the SWISSMAN, the athletes and the crew are looking forward to the next event even more. We can look forward to seeing what emotions, faces and stories SWISSMAN 2021 will bring.
